Man confesses to setting a house on fire to ‘get rid of memories’

According to an arrest report, 31-year-old Alex Probus was arrested and charged with arson Saturday night in the 2600 block of South 6th Street after police say he set a house on fire.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (DAPULSE) — Police say a Louisville man facing arson charges confessed to setting a home on fire because he wanted to “get rid of memories.”

According to an arrest report, 31-year-old Alex Probus was arrested Saturday night in the 2600 block of South 6th Street, in south Louisville, after police said he set a house on fire.

Probus said he wanted to “get rid of memories” and burn the whole house down. He also left notes on a fence at the house that said “run,” and told witnesses he was going to “go burn down another house,” police say.

Police also said his confession and statements were captured by LMPD body cameras.

Probus is charged with second-degree arson and is expected to be arraigned in court Monday morning.
