“Ink Master” contestant Daniel Silva has been arrested for murder by Los Angeles Police following a car crash that killed popular YouTuber Corey La Barrie on his 25th birthday Sunday night.
Police said Silva, 27, was driving the 2020 McLaren 600LT involved in the fatal crash Sunday night in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles. The luxury sports car was traveling “at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control,” ran off the road, and into a stop sign and a tree, according to a Monday LAPD release spelling out the alleged DUI fatal collision.
Officer Mike Lopez, media relations officer for the LAPD, tells USA TODAY Silva “was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, crashed and killed the passenger. So he’s been charged with murder and is in police custody.”
After the impact, Silva tried to flee the scene according to the police statement, but was “stopped by citizens who came to render aid.” Both Silva and La Barrie were transported to the hospital, but La Barrie died.
La Barrie’s grieving brother, Jarrad La Barrie, detailed his thoughts on the alleged incident on his Instagram page.
“Corey passed away last night in a car accident with his drunk friend driving,” Jarrad La Barrie wrote. “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I don’t how I’m supposed to do this without you. I miss you so much already this isn’t fair thank you for always being the best big brother I could ask for. I love you so (expletive) much life’s never gonna be the same without you.”
